Who: All students - all skill levels, ages and instruments!

When: We have two different venues - each on a different date. Students get to choose one of the following:
Recital: Saturday, October 29th at McKinney Performing Arts Center
Showcase: Sunday, November 13th at House of Blues Dallas

Registration Deadline: Saturday, October 1st for the Recital and Saturday, October 15th for the Showcase (all registration must be done online)

Times: We are unable to finalize students' performance times until after registration has closed. However, we anticipate that performances on Saturday will be from approximately 10 or 11 am until 6 or 7 pm. And we anticipate that performances Sunday will be approximately 10 or 11 am until 7 or 8 pm. Please understand that these are only estimated times - we can only finalize these after registration has closed.

In consideration of your time, we will divide students into multiple performances each day (keeping siblings together). We will finalize time assignments and email the specific performance times to participants the week before each performance.

Non-refundable Registration Fee: $30 per student - based on registration (students who subsequently cancel will still be charged - per the note below)

About the Fee: As with all of our performance opportunities, the registration fees do not cover the full costs we incur to host these events. However, we believe performing enhances the learning process. Therefore, we remain committed to offering students of Matt Burk Music Studio high-quality, fun, unique performance opportunities. The registration fees for these events help offset some of the costs associated with them. We finalize our plans and reservations prior to the events - based on the number of students registered. Therefore, the $30 per student fee will be charged based on initial registration. If you must cancel/withdraw your registration, you will still be charged this $30 fee. So please keep this in mind as you decide whether to register.

  2. This MPAC performance is a more traditional recital in their main theatre.
  3. At the MPAC, piano students perform on a baby grand piano.

The Registration Process & Deadline

Registration is managed strictly through an online registration process (use the "click here to register" button above to register). There is a firm deadline of October 1st for the Recital and October 15th for the Showcase to register and to make any special requests for this showcase and recital.

As usual, we have two choices for students - you are welcome to choose the performance that best suits you (whether due to venue, date, etc.). We ask that each student choose only one of these two options - the Recital at the McKinney Performing Arts Center or the Showcase at House of Blues Dallas.

Special requests regarding performance time assignments are very difficult to accommodate, but we do our best to do so. If you need to make a special request regarding your time assignment (e.g., earliest performance of the day, or after a certain time), this must be submitted no later than October 1st for the Recital and October 15th for the Showcase. It is best if you can do this with your online registration. Because of the amount of planning that is involved in preparing for successful performances, we will not be able to make any changes after October 1st and 15th depending on the venue.

Register early! We have to reserve our performance venues several months in advance, and we have to estimate the amount of time we need at each venue upon making these reservations. As such, there are only a certain number of performers we can have at each venue. If registration for one date/venue fills up more quickly than the other, students who register a little later may only have the option of one date/venue. Between the two venues, there should be space for everyone to perform, but in order to be sure to get to perform in the venue of your choice, be sure to register early!

Some Additional Helpful Information

  • We strive to make the recital and showcase very enjoyable for students as well their guests. We encourage students to dress according to how they will feel best - some students dress up significantly and others dress more casually. We leave that decision up to each student.

  • We encourage students to memorize their music for these events, but we do not require them to do so. We realize that this can add undue stress on some students, so as with attire, we leave this decision to each student.

  • There are no tickets or fees for guests to attend either venue.

  • Remember - these events are not just for advanced students - all students of all skill levels are encouraged to perform!
