Who: All students - all skill levels, ages and instruments!
When: May 24th
Where: The Cox Theater (Plano)
Registration Deadline: Monday, May 11th (all registration must be done online)
Times: We are unable to finalize students' performance times until after registration has closed. However, we anticipate that performances will be from approximately 12 noon until 6 or 7 pm. Please understand that these are only estimated times - we can only finalize these after registration has closed.
In consideration of your time, we will divide students into multiple performances each day (keeping siblings together). We will finalize time assignments and email the specific performance times to participants the week before each performance.
Non-refundable Registration Fee: $40 per student per performance - based on registration (students who subsequently cancel will still be charged - per the note below)
About the Fee: As with all of our performance opportunities, the registration fees goes towards covering the costs we incur to host these events. We believe performing enhances the learning process. Therefore, we remain committed to offering students of Matt Burk Music Studio high-quality, fun, unique performance opportunities. We finalize our plans and reservations prior to the events - based on the number of students registered. Therefore, the $40 per student per performance fee will be charged based on initial registration. If you must cancel/withdraw your registration, you will still be charged this $40 fee. So please keep this in mind as you decide whether to register.
Recital: The Cox Theater - Sunday, May 24th
1517 H Ave Plano, Tx. 75074
The Cox Theater is located in the historic district in downtown Plano. There is ample parking in a lot right next to the Cox Theater.
Registration is managed strictly through an online registration process. There is a deadline of May 11th to register and to make any special requests .
If you need to make a special request regarding your time assignment (e.g., earliest performance of the day, or after a certain time), this must be submitted no later than May 11th. It is best if you can do this with your online registration. Because of the amount of planning that is involved in preparing for successful performances, we will not be able to make any changes after May 11th.
Register early! We have to reserve the performance venue several months in advance, and we have to estimate the amount of time we need for the event. So regiser early to secure your spot!
We strive to make the Recital very enjoyable for students as well their guests. We encourage students to dress according to how they will feel best - some students dress up significantly and others dress more casually. We leave that decision up to each student.
We encourage students to memorize their music for these events, but we do not require them to do so. We realize that this can add undue stress on some students, so as with attire, we leave this decision to each student.
There are no tickets or fees for guests to attend!
Remember - these events are not just for advanced students - all students of all skill levels are encouraged to perform!
Please use the "click here to register" button to register for this exciting performance. And of course, if you have any questions at all, please let us know - we are always happy to help!
(all programs and performance opportunities are open to registered students)
The Showcase is such an awesome opportunity for students of MBMS to grow as musicians and show off all the hard work they've put in.
Each spring and fall, we offer you an opportunity to perform at our Showcase at the House of Blues in Dallas, TX. These events are always fun for students and teachers alike. They're open to students of all ages and skill levels.
They offer you just the motivation you need to put in extra practice time or to learn a song that may be a little different than what you might normally choose. It's at events like these where you have a chance to grow and shine as a musician!
Performing in front of a live audience is such a cool experience and a great way to grow leaps and bounds as a musician and artist! If you have never performed at an MBMS Recital, don't put it off, we'd love to see you there!
Each spring and fall, we offer our Frisco, Allen and Plano students the opportunity to perform at a music recital at the McKinney Performing Arts Center in Texas. These recitals are a huge amount of fun and they're open to students of all ages and skill levels. In events like these, you get the opportunity to put in a little extra work to play in front of an audience. Live performances will help you develop and shine as a musician.
Our Jam Sessions are an excellent way for you to enjoy the thrill and energy of playing music with others in a laid-back, fun and supportive environment. Playing as part of a group is one of the best ways to instill confidence, grow as a musician, and stay motivated to improve your skills. Many students don't have the opportunity to play with others. We help you to prepare the songs that will be performed. Then we place you in a group that we know will work well together to achieve the best sound!
Our live gigs are a great opportunity for you to perform publicly at local venues around town. Whether you want to perform as an individual, or with an accompanist or as a part of a band, live gigs are an excellent forum for you to perform original music or covers. We always have an instructor at our live gigs to support students and to offer encouragement. Many of the other students from our studio attend with their families too. It can be intimidating to take "the step” to perform in public but because our audience is mostly studio based, our live gigs are an excellent way to bridge the gap and get your feet wet in the arena of public performance!
Masterclasses are an excellent compliment to private lessons. They give you a way to get concentrated instruction beyond private lessons. Masterclasses are a great way to meet and connect with other students who have similar interests. They're a fun, engaging, and interactive way to gain important knowledge about all things music. Our Masterclass program will enhance your private lessons and make them more effective and productive!
Playing as part of a band greatly enhances the musicianship of a student. It's a great way to connect with other students and build bonds around your style of music. There are aspects of becoming a well-rounded musician that can only be learned playing with others. Skills like improvisation, timing, and dynamics, are developed in playing with others, as is a sense of camaraderie. It's just really fun and cool to rock out together!
