Lauren holt: Voice lesson Teacher - Frisco, Texas
Hey fellow music lovers! I'm Lauren, and my journey into the wonderful world of music started at a rockin' age of 5 when I first heard the legendary "Hotel California." Talk about an early introduction to the good stuff!
Fast forward to age 5, and my mom gifted me a karaoke machine. Classic rock anthems became my playground, and I belted out tunes like nobody's business. My love for music only grew, leading me to dive into classical voice lessons at my church when I hit 9. Learning the ins and outs of breathing techniques and vocal wizardry was my passion.
My mom took me to karaoke places for practice, setting the stage for my middle school choir adventure in 6th grade. Shoutout to my amazing choir teacher who turned singing into a harmonious journey. Choir not only taught me to read music but also showed me the power of music in bringing people together. We even did a dedication performance for a fellow choir member, teaching me the true meaning of musical community.
High school brought about my songwriting days, forming my own alternative rock band at the rebellious age of 17. I dived into exploring my musical style, penning my first song and hitting the local music scene like a boss. From Lubbock to Austin, I gigged and grooved my way across Texas.
Now, as your friendly music guide, my goal is to help you discover your voice. I enjoy teaching all ages and skill levels. Whether you want to learn classical or rock or anything in between, I can help you get there. We'll delve into chest and head voices, proper breathing, projecting, and nailing those vowel pronunciations. Let's find a song that sparks joy for you, dissect it, and bring out your unique style. At Matt Burk Music Studio in Frisco, instructors encourage students communicate with their instructor about specific songs and styles they would like to learn. Our instructors eagerly provide repertoire and song suggestions as well, based on the student's unique voice, experience, and goals. Voice lessons incorporate basic techniques such as abdominal breath support, vocal placement, diction, and stylizing. Some technical aspects are addressed during warm-up and other elements are incorporated into each student’s song selections.
