Zoe Romero: Piano and voice LESSON Teacher - Allen, Texas
Hello! I'm Zoe, and music has been a huge part of my life ever since I started playing piano at the age of 12. Along the way, I also discovered my passion for singing, which led me to explore different genres and styles. I had the amazing opportunity to attend a Summer Gospel Program at Berklee College, which deepened my love for music even further. I have performed with my own band at incredible venues like the House of Blues and festivals like South By Southwest, all of which have shaped me as an artist. My journey through music, whether performing or learning abroad, has only strengthened my passion, and I am committed to always growing and improving. Sharing my love for music is not just a profession—it is my calling, and I am dedicated to passing on the joy and knowledge it has given me.
Matthew Vasquez: Piano lesson Teacher - Allen, Texas
I was inspired at a young age by the expressiveness in creating music. We had a piano at home that was not used very often and I found myself sitting at the bench just playing around with it to see what sounds I could make. I instantly fell in love with the ability to create music!
I started taking private lessons around the age of 12. As a student, I was really shy. This initially kept me from engaging in lessons and taking the next step into performance but with the support of my instructor, I was able to open up and discuss my struggles. I learned that the more I practiced at home, the more confidence I built in asking questions in lessons.
This has really impacted my teaching style. I strive to create a fun, encouraging environment where my students can feel comfortable asking lots of questions. I work with each student to find the right practice techniques and activities so they can feel confident when practicing at home.
My passion led me to pursue music at North Lake Community College. There, Professor Eger was really influential in my musical growth. He showed me that you will always be growing and learning as a musician. This is something that I took to heart and use in my teaching. I work to incorporate ear training and sight-reading into songs my students like to engage their creativity in lessons.
I also love including music history and pop culture to a students’ overall musical knowledge. I believe that students can continuously be inspired every day to learn and create amazing music. I really want my students to apply music to their daily lives whether it means writing their own tune, performing for friends and family, or just using it as an outlet for their creativity.
My musical journey has taken me all across the country. I have written and performed music in multiple bands throughout my career and have been nominated for Best Rock Band of the Year (2019) for both “The Observer Music Awards,” and the “Central Track Music Awards”. I have met and made friends from all walks of life. It is so inspiring to connect with other people through a shared love for music.
One of the biggest highlights of my career has been performing at the Granada Theater in Dallas. Since I was young I had been seeing my favorite bands play that theater, so when I started playing gigs there it was genuinely a dream come true. I love helping my students find unique goals for them to work toward!. My goal is to support my student’s aspirations so they stay engaged and excited about learning.
The hardest thing for me was to get over my stage fright! I was able to overcome this through practice. Consistent practicing built my confidence to perform in front of people. I work with every student to develop good habits for dealing with stage fright. It is really scary to put yourself out there but with encouragement and support, I believe every student is capable of harnessing their potential!
Zac Adams: Piano lesson Teacher - Allen, Texas
Greetings, I'm Zac! My musical odyssey commenced in the United Kingdom, where, at the tender age of 5, I received my first guitar and keyboard as thoughtful gifts from my parents. Growing up in a musical family, everyone around me possessed skills in various instruments, spanning from the guitar to the saxophone and violin.
As my passion for music flourished, at 18, I embarked on my academic journey at Loughborough College in England. During this phase, I engaged in numerous musical collaborations with college buddies, forming bands that graced the stages of local pubs and clubs. We even had the pleasure of participating in competitions, clinching a memorable victory in a Battle of the Bands competition, leading to a remarkable performance alongside Reverend and the Makers!
Upon turning 21, I pursued my studies at the University of Derby, where, after three years of dedicated academic pursuit, I graduated with a degree in music. This period allowed me to craft my own album, refining my technical musical skills using various software and recording equipment. It was during this time that my piano journey truly took flight, as I co-founded a wedding band, embracing a diverse repertoire from Soul/Motown classics to contemporary pop and rock.
Post-Derby, I joined another band dedicated to crafting original musical compositions, performing at universities, pubs, and events. I also engaged in acoustic duo performances, adding another layer to my musical journey.
Teaching became an integral part of my musical expedition, where I imparted knowledge in guitar and piano to students of all ages. I firmly believe that music should be a vital part of everyone's lives, fostering positivity and happiness. Witnessing the growth of my students, nurturing their creativity and passion, and observing them blossom into musicians who release their art into the world is immensely gratifying.
Several years later, I relocated to Texas, embracing a new chapter as I tied the knot with my wife, Corrina. Amidst this life change, my musical journey persisted, with my guitars and midi keyboard making the transatlantic journey. I dedicated my spare moments to songwriting and playing, fully aware that my musical adventure was far from over. The desire to continue my journey in musical education persisted, fueled by the intention to share my knowledge and passion with as many individuals as possible, even if my accent posed a challenge for some!
As a multi-instrumentalist, I am ready to guide you on your musical journey or help you advance along your current path! With a well-balanced teaching approach, we'll explore new songs, delve into music theory, and, most importantly, have fun in the process!
