As with all lessons with Matt Burk Music Studio, we strive to keep the student’s interests in mind first! Every lesson is tailored to fit each individual student’s interests and preferences. We don’t require students to fit into OUR program, but rather we strive to fit your desires!

What Makes Us Different

At Matt Burk Music Studio, we pride ourselves in excellent customized music instruction and customer service. All of our Skype music lessons are conducted from our professional music studio, where every room is equipped with closed circuit cameras (for our security and for students’ peace of mind).

Each of our instructors has been personally interviewed and hand-selected by the owners of the studio (Matt and Jessica Burk). This allows us to be certain that we are bringing only the best instructors to teach our students – instructors who use encouragement and positive reinforcement to inspire their students to learn.

With Matt Burk Music Studio, every aspect of an online learning experience, has been well thought – through and has gone far beyond just a webcam and a mic. We don’t just bring Skype lessons to students, but rather we bring the highest quality online interactive music learning experience possible!

What You’ll Need

In order to conduct successful learning environment through Skype, each student must have these things:

As a Skype student, you will receive a complimentary test call with your teacher before your first official lesson.

High-speed Internet connection (DSL or Cable)
Skype Account
Quiet space free of background noise

We also highly recommend students have an external web cam. From time-to-time, depending on the student and the instrument, we may also make recommendations for additional software/equipment that will help lessons be as productive as possible.

Quality

We have taken big steps to ensure the audio and video quality that we send through Skype are the best possible. We use adjustable, high-definition external web cams and professional external microphones.

When helpful, there is also software that will allow us to share our music on a screen so that we can easily be on the “same page” with students.

Before Starting Lessons

As a Skype student, you will receive a complimentary test call with your teacher before your first official lesson. This is the perfect time to meet and get to know your instructor, and to discuss your musical goals, as well as to test your Skype set up, work through any potential technological challenges, and to tweak your setup before your first official lesson.

In order to ensure that we are set up for success beginning with your first lesson, this test call is is required. And why wouldn’t you want to do it? It’s complimentary!
